About Recovery Outcomes
Recovery Research, Training, Consultancy, Evaluation, and Innovation
Our Mission
Our mission is to shorten addiction careers and sustain long-term recovery by advancing the science of recovery capital through research, training, and accessible, evidence-based tools for the people and organizations doing the work.
Our Core Values
Transparency & Integrity
We lead by example in all that we do, hold ourselves and colleagues accountable to the people and communities we serve.
Collaboration Over Competition
We grow stronger together. We foster cross-sector collaboration, among providers, policymakers, peer networks, and communities, to build recovery ecosystems that work.
Evidence-Based
We ground everything we do in research, refined by lived experience and guided by the outcomes that matter to the people we serve.
Continuous Learning
We are always growing. We embrace curiosity and remain open to adapt as we evolve with new evidence, insights, and community wisdom to better serve those who serve people in recovery.
Our Story
Recovery Outcomes Institute was founded in 2017 by thought leaders in the recovery space, including our late founder, John Lehman, with a shared vision: make sustainable, long-term recovery measurable and achievable for individuals, organizations, and communities.
Our programs have trained hundreds of peers and supported numerous organizations in implementing best practices that lead to improved outcomes for individuals in recovery. Through our work, we aim to create accessible and effective resources that can help individuals build greater resilience and capacity for sustained recovery. We are happy to collaborate with various professionals and diverse types of organizations including recovery housing, recovery community organizations or centers, prisons, and other justice organizations. Some of the initiatives that we are involved in include:
- Supporting research on recovery capital and peer or community-based organizations.
- Providing training and support of best practices that support recovery-focused organizations and individuals.
- Developing and disseminating evidence-based innovations including new measurements.
We continue to innovate and expand our offerings, always staying true to our commitment to excellence, compassion, and measurable impact in the recovery community.
